Interesting facts about Clearfield, Utah
Clearfield in Shoshone means, “Place where the wind blows hard”.
It was settled in 1877, later than other communities in the area. It was originally call Sand Ridge, but later named Clearfield.
Hill Air Force Base started being built in 1940, which started a housing boom in the area. It’s still one of Utah’s major employers.
The current population of Clearfield is 31,000.
